HBV—Perhaps the best one can hope for is to improve upon current SoC.

What kind of improvement short of a functional cure would be worth achieving? In my opinion, there isn’t any such improvement. Nuc monotherapy, given indefinitely, is effective at suppressing HBV DNA to undetectable levels and preventing disease progression.

I think a functional cure for the masses will happen at some point. The fact some patients have already achieved a functional cure, albeit very rarely, tells you it is possible.
