GM Recalls Every Chevy Bolt Ever Made Over Faulty Batteries

The automaker is recalling the electric vehicle after investigating two manufacturing defects linked to car fires.

Tesla had over 50 cars burn up due to its lithium batteries in the last year. Far greater than GMs like 9 fires.

Its not a manufacturing defect its electromagnetic interference that causes lithium batteries to heat up and combust.

Thermal Runaway of Lithium-Ion Batteries Triggered by Electromagnetic Interference

In this article, it is shown that the high current densities, far above the safe threshold, can also be caused by electromagnetic interference. As a battery is very comparable to a capacitor, the combination with interconnecting wires makes it a resonant, or a, unforeseen tuned, circuit. Experiments with electrolytic capacitors have been performed to confirm this effect, followed by experiments with lithium-ion battery cells. Then, high-frequency currents using the standard bulk current injection test setups, have been injected at the resonance frequency until thermal runaway that induces vent out occurs.

The stats you utilize are misleading as there are so few EVs on the road compared to ICE and are not driven by average driver.
However the incixents of EVs going out of control due to EM radiation has nothing to do with the driver but everything to do with the car itself. EVs pose a real danger to the public.
