It is not an angiogram it is a cardiac cath with Stent placement which automatically gets you not only a statin and aspirin but plavix as well. Prevention is everything in cardiac disease. When you have cardiac disease you also have a high likelihood of peripheral vascular disease as well.

A general range in the United States, without stent placement, is between $4,000 and $6,000, but it can vary widely.


That might only be the surgeon, er, interventional cardiologist's fee.
In my case, five years ago, with one stent deployed, the total cost was ~$31,000, of which I had to pay a very large deductable. And...like you I did not stay overnight. Total stay was about 11-12 hours.

Insurers do not buy directly from wholesalers - their payments for V are much higher than $140/mo. As far as cost of a PCI, don't forget to throw in the ambulance ride to the cath lab - that's another $1k-$2k to the insurer.
