ETFs range from superb investments to rubbish.

Some of the most popular ones on IHUB are outright junk that use inscrutable leverage and option writing. There's also a cousin, ETNs or Exchange Traded Notes, that have other kinds of risks. Munger has railed against the new breed of highly leveraged ETFs as dangerous gambling instruments.

I've long owned SPY, the famous SPDR 500 ETF. My kids are in QQQ, the red hot Nasdaq 100 ETF. They also have DIA, the Dow 30 ETF.
