What we know is that he had a dispute over governance issues. As part of that he wanted to have some more outside BOD members added to the board. He listed one candidate. LP chose otherwise.
That he tried to take over the company has absolutely zero basis in known facts. He most certainly never made a hostile bid, which by definition is an offer direct to shareholders that bypasses the BOD.
