Participants had a median of 9 days of symptoms at the time of randomisation to therapy, with a range of 7 to 12 days. That is far too late. The key is giving it in the first few days and this will help prevent infected patients from getting sick enough to require hospitalisation.

So administering it to Covid patients caused patients to die from complications - about 31% due to side effects mainly liver failure etc Adding steroids and antibiotics only complicated side effects and about 45% of Covid patients died in hospitals
