#353051 RE: Jasbg #353047

Jasbg, my father was a young boy living in Paris when the Nazis seized it. Then when the Allies liberated Paris. He said that he learned English by watching American movies, and grew up wanted to drive an American car.

He left France when he was 22 years old and immigrated to Canada. There he got his first American car - a Chevy BelAir - considered by some as a poor man's Cadillac at the time. He was also excited for me when I emigrated to the US in the late 70's. So yeah a lot of good things came from the way the war ended. Not being born at the time, I just wonder if even back then politics played a role in us not getting in until 1942 though.
