Just a guess. Woodford made his name picking winners, but he had a large support team to vet the picks.

He went out on his own.

He may still feel he made the right call on DCVax. But admits he screwed up on not vetting LP and friends.

Management does matter. LP could have easily sold the entire company to NW back then for $10/share. Now, after 6 years, that is just a hope.

Woodford freely admitted that he did not dig into nwbo sufficiently.

If a Portfolio Manager is right 60% of the time, that's enough to generate hero level returns. Even the very best are wrong a lot, so no one should assume that any one pick has to be correct.
