You probably are correct.

There is another very reasonable possibility. In early July, there was a jump in nwbo shares outstanding, presumably from warrant exercise. If those shares were delivered to cover shorts, then there would have been no need to buy in the market.

Possible, but not necessarily any more true than the other explanation. Note they are both speculative, though I don’t necessarily think it is reasonable to assume all of the covered short positions were warrants. I am not even sure if it makes sense that any of them were as an assumption. It’s purely speculation.
