Indeed, they don't and things happen.

no one has to know

Late summer a few years back.
Outside Austin.
Words of my brother...

I removed the cover off her ‘86 lowrider, I swung my leg over and
settled onto the solo seat. I turned the gas on, pulled out the
choke and twisted the throttle twice, pushed the starter button and
the EVO TWIN jumped to life with a low rumble. I left the yard
slowly as the Harley started to warm up. Turning onto the black top,
I rode towards the west as the sun was starting to lower on the
horizon. It was a large ball of orange as the evening was warm and
clear. The bike ran smoothly in spite of having 46,000 miles showing
on the odometer, most of which were put on by her during the 18
years she rode her Harley she loved so much.

I opened it up a little to make the pipes talk to us as she loved to
do so often, all the while riding toward the setting sun. As the sun
started to lower out of sight, I took the cover off the container
and slowly let the breeze carry the ashes of my loved one off the
back of the bike. I did not look back as I rode into our last sunset
together. I know she is smiling - knowing that our last ride
together was doing what we loved to do together.
