Being called out on a stock board is way funny. Maybe we can settle our manliness issues by racing our vehicles from a stop light, or seeing who gets the better MPG on a cross country trip. Nah, that wouldn't be fair. Or we'll have a shoot-out from 50 paces.

I hope there's always enough fuel, at a reasonable cost, to keep the ranchers and the farmers and the contractors running.

The US uses 25% of the world's energy, but it's not because of the working men who drive big trucks. How many f'n times have I said the dudes hauling hay or whatever get my nod every time. More power dudes. Drive whatever you want. The muscle cars - fine. I love em. The rice rockets - way cool.

I'd rather die in a car crash with a 1970 Mustang driven by a motorhead than an Expedition driven by someone who never saw me because they were on the phone yapping away about a lunch date.

It's the ******* who drive these boats to haul their 2.5 brats around in everywhere or to haul their own pampered selves to the market in - in other words the majority of the SUV owners - who are keeping us in thrall to foreign crude oil suppliers. In other words, it's due to the use of energy-guzzling SUVs by non-farmers, non-ranchers, non-contractors.

Nearly two-thirds of our oil is used for transportation.

"In 1995, the U.S., with a population of 263 million people, used an estimated 95,300 PJ of primary energy. This estimate represents 25 percent of the world energy use while the U.S. has only 5 percent of the world population. By comparison, Japan--ranked 4th in energy use--used 6 percent of the world energy while having 2 percent of the world population [3]."

Transportation accounts for more than 67 percent of the oil we consume in the United States and more than we produce. Today, our country imports more than 56 percent of its oil supply, and imports are expected to reach 70 percent over the next two decades (U.S. Department of Energy).

The United States consumes almost 9 million barrels of gasoline daily – 43 percent of total global daily gasoline consumption.
