#343132 RE: ralphey #343063

Feel bad for you docs who lose money on Medicare patients - it's not fair. I used to put baby oil gel in my ears when I used foam earplugs, but they still irritated my ear canal beyond belief, finding that bees wax was a miracle - works much better too. Now that I know how stupidly simple it is to get rid of ear wax, I made my own kit for if this ever happens again - fresh hydrogen peroxide and a syringe with a piece of Tygon tubing attached to the end so I can get it in deep - that broken off piece of was was stuck on my eardrum, need to make sure I can get the water in that far - have one of those bulb type water injectors but since I can't see where it's pointing, and don't want to stick it deep into my ear (has a hard tip), it's kind useless - would work fine if someone else was flushing my ear. The problem with the bees wax is it slowly gets thinner over time, becomes more sensitive to temp changes (softens up too much), and it can almost melt inside my ear. I doubled the size of the lump of wax to make it too big to get into the ear canal (only blocks the opening), haven't had a problem since.
