I did a similar search and you can find mention of it in the lab prior to 1900 so go check or not and my research said it did not become popular until after it was widely used in WW2.
A simple google search will give a date of 1862 for the first man made plastic. using your numbers it still took 50 years to commercialize.

What's funny is you think you schooled me or something lol. I did a post with dates about 18 months ago about how long it took plastics to become mainstream so to say.

Incorrect to include thermoset macromolecules like Bakelite with thermoplastic macromolecules, aka plastics, but agree that plastics were commercialized much faster than people are claiming in this forum.
