Why would the CEO not use Twitter or Facebook if he was of a mind to do right by shareholders? Those are recognized by the SEC as legitimate social media sites as ones that companies can use to inform shareholders of what's happening at the company.
The whole concept is based on easy access and recognition. One isn't supposed to have to hunt for these outlets. In fact, they're supposed to make a public announcement of where shareholders can find information.
