Cars have a weight detector that tells If someone is in a seat without their seatbelt buckled and will set off an alarm to alert the driver/passenger.

Why not write something into the software to keep the car from driving at “high speed” when nobody is sitting in the driver’s seat?

Not having your hands on the steering wheel 24/7 is one thing. Not being able to reach the brake pedal is something entirely different.
