Correction: After reviewing the actual patent wording, it appears that the new patent was an earlier version of the patent that Bots acquired in the merger. It was filed by the same people in 2013 whereas BTZI's patent was an improved, more complete version, filed in 2014.
It appears the second patent includes the enrollment protocols.
Wrapping up this additional patent under the BTZI umbrella allows BTZI to immediately proceed with licensing agreements for the industry, including the manufacturers of Bitcoin ATMs and owner-operators.
It looks like BTZI may have wanted to add this patent to their portfolio to strengthen their claim before pressing full speed ahead toward licensing.
