Khaled, and this from Juenke on the subject,

Proto, thanks. The trajectory has been nothing less than spectacular. I understand better than ever what it takes to get designed in. Data, data, data: paraphrasing Lebby. I understand that even on a co packaged design for a transceiver you need test data for each and every vendor part ( optical switches, VCEL’s, cables etc) and even test results on wafer lever ( even if you do not make wafers) to be accepted by the big data center companies. HG Tech talks about a complete eco system and literally cringes by the thought that some parties are working on an ever growing number of lanes ( up to 8), vendors and parts. Moreover power efficiency for individual parts does not add up to overall channel power efficiency. The best option is a coherent eco system and polymers are able to deliver that at Lightwave’s voltage levels and without RF driver. The simplicity and reliability of Lightwave’s modulators, the suitability for small and large distances, the need for simultaneous wide and multitudes of touch points in these centers, all favor Lightwave’s platform. If anything, the Lightwave technology was officially endorsed , for the first time in these meetings, as the future platform by EPIC, EA and HG Tech ( The Global Photonics Industry representations). The HG Tech company and the representative of the Ethernet Association in their presentations implied that they favored Lightwave’s platform. HG Tech and Lightwave are NDA partners and these two companies are in the design in phase. HG Tech is able to mass produce devices. Just put A and B together, I am sure Lightwave is moving ever closer to commercialization. It is a daunting process, meticulous and long, but the rewards could be spectacular.
