Some platelets would clot, while others would vanish.
That's not what happened - I was talking about this oddity of having blood clots but very low platelet levels, seemed contradictory to me - he said perhaps the clots were forming so quickly they lowered platelet levels faster than the body could replace them. I looked it up when I got home and he was right, that was exactly what was happening - they "vanished" into clots, didn't just vaporize like that sentence suggests.
