#65609 RE: yanquitrader #65603

Very interesting discussion. Lutkowitz has a point on the complexity of CPO, the industry knows that and still pursues all kind of ‘home grown’ solutions. I think Lutkowitz is correct to assume the likely continuity of pluggables. Brad Booth is a decision maker at Microsoft basically tells him that Microsoft will pursue CPO, whether Lutkowitz likes this or not. Karin Liu’s thumbs up is to signal her agreement that CPO ( with silicon or indium) is complex as a multi vendor, expensive and complex solution. Brad Booth reaction IMO is great and an implicit endorsement and confirmation of Lightwave Logic product strategy : co packaging if needed and an all polymer solution (P2IC) as the best solution. Microsoft looks for true and practical innovation. Lutkowitz as a journalist can try to write about history if he gets his facts right, but advising big data business what to do in future is a different game. Lutkowitz is a bit better on history. Creating a future business and product strategy is out of his paygrade. I guess Brad Booth’s Microsoft reaction of ‘ entertaining post’ underscores this point. This weeks’ EPIC conference may give us new insights on CPO, Pluggables and PIC’s from the photonics industry.
