but... now Canada has over 500 producers and counting. While the 'small' 100 acre field produces 100,000kg of dried cannabis (1,000kg yield per acre) potentially valued at $500,000,000 ($5/g). Producers will be willing to sell at muchhhhhh lower prices as oversupply continues.
something interesting: about half way between Ottawa and Toronto sits a native reservation around the city of Deseronto. Long before cannabis was even legalised in Canada, retail stores on this reservation sold unrestricted to the public (amidst police/RCMP shutdowns but they always opened back up). Now... This reservation is just a pure cannabis town, drive down the streets and all you see are signs for cannabis, the gas stations, convenient stores, etc. Illegal retail by the way, but allowed on reservation land (for those unfamiliar with the politics here). Cannabis town / ghost town. Its all dead. People get there supply and don't come back for a while. Prices as low as $3/gram found here already. interestingly, now all these shops sell shrooms to. retail model works well for them, they just have dozens of big glass jars filled with product and then they scoop it out, weight it, and bag it up for the customer like an old candy shop.
As for legal retail here, I've seen oversupply discounted as low as $3.75/g
