System restore only allows a certain amount of space for restore points. If you click on the little arrow on the top left of the calendar and it won't go back to 06 you may have used all the available space. When the alloted space is used the oldest restore points are dropped to make room for new ones. I'd then try uninstalling the browser.

For those of you that like to experiment with new software and find yourself needing to get rid of it frequently when it didn't meet your expectations, I would suggest looking at the Altiris Software Virtualization Solution (SVS). It's free for personal use.

SVS creates a virtual layer that overlays the registry and file system. You add new untested software products you're trying onto a layer. While the layer is running, it fits seamlessly into your system. When the layer is off, the new untested thingy is gone and there's nothing mucking up your registry or file system. It's really very slick.
