No doubt there are people who do. But this is a mistake as an "investor". To put the point in some perspective:

A. You are interesting in a biotech. Disregard whether the shares are publicly traded or not, as that does not affect the inate potential of the pipeline. Assume the company is not public. The shares cost X. Is the risk/reward of an investment attractive?

B. You cannot time the market or predict it. So see A.

Trade all you want. You want to be an investor but are now increasing your market risk. Is that worth its possible reward?

(Note: owning shares always exposes you to market risk. But it is minimized, since you are an investor and holding long term, in a diversified portfolio. You increase your market risk by trading.)
