Yeah, I’m glad that I didn’t have to live through a pandemic as a kid. Then again, we didn’t have a small online world back then. Had their been a pandemic back then, our only way to keep in touch with friends and family would have been by phone. Thankfully kids today at least have apps like Zoom, Teams and FaceTime.
That’s not to say that kids aren’t missing out a lot on socializing with their friends, but remote learning has got to be tough.
First off, I feel like kids will be back in school (across the country) by the fall. Obviously we’re going to be dealing with Covid and it’s mutations for the next 2 - 3 years (or until the rest of the world is inoculated and not traveling to the US to continue the spread of mutations here), but I think we’ll be in a position where enough people in the US will be inoculated that kids can safely go back to school for the foreseeable future. I think the rest of us will be able to have some sort of normalcy by that time, too.
That said, until the entire world is inoculated, we’ll be dealing with this pandemic for a few more years, in some fashion or another. Thereafter it’ll become endemic, but should be much less lethal by then.
