Check with you broker on the rules and regs on shorting a penny stock (if the broker even allows it) I trade with Etrade, they require $8 cash or equity for every share of a penny stock you want to short. It seems highly unlikely that any retail trader is going to put up that kind of equity to short a penny stock.
