For mass EV adoption it will require massive mining operations and significant improvements to energy grid. That comes with a great cost to the enviornment and everyone's pocketbooks. Upgrading infrastructure to support mass EV adoption will cause prices to increase for homeowners as well as those charging their vehicles. Also greater demand will increase prices especially if that power comes from intermittent renewables.
In an interesting twist, if ICE vehicles cause cooling via particulates, then EVs will cause warming as they dont release radiative reflecting particles.
