Cowboy, I understand what you are doing. However, there are times when a moderator has to use good judgement. Replying to a post that becomes deleted does not necessarily make that reply irrelevant and useless. It is just a method of convenience for putting a post on the board in a way that lets others know who you are replying to ..etc. Also, how is someone going to know if a post is going to be deleted when they are replying to it?? That means that, to be safe, EVERY post should be a new post and there would be no threads. You need to use your head on this one IMO. I PM'd Matt yesterday evening because I spent some time on a thoughtful post (at least I thought a lot about it). It was extremely frustrating to see that one whipped off within a minute from posting it. At the time, the post I was replying to was not deleted. All I am saying is reconsider that rule about replying to deleted posts and consider the contents of the post instead. Heck, you may come back in an hour or two, delete a post and next thing you know there are dozens of responses that are automatically deleted according to this draconian measure of slashing posts. It is not fair to those who are considerate in their replies and are trying to help.

I am PMing this to you as well in case this one gets deleted or the post I am replying to is deleted if it isn't on topic for ckys.

In understanding it now it is easy for any poster to avoid having his post deleted.

Cowboy : The break-down of task oriented posts to the filler posts is fairly typical on this board to other well moderated
boards . It is the nature of message boards to have personalities that enjoy reciprocal banter with other personalities , and I agree that the banter can be excessive but I contend that such banter can create a positive , comfortable milieu where lurkers can feel comfortable in joining in . Not everyone will risk making a task oriented post that they may be insecure about the content accuracies without that comfort and friendly milieu .

I also understand the difficulty in differentiating and thereby deleting the posts that are antagonistic versus allowing the protagonistic posts . It is a Wisdom of Solomon
situation for all Moderators .

Ragisme presents a good argument for balance and discretion
in deleting appropriate , task oriented posts that should be made as a reply in order for the poster's points to have relevance .

I believe the CKYS Moderators do an excellent job and you all have the support of MOST of the participants .

All Board Moderators: Cowboy, EXCELLENT post. You have my 100% support and vote to continue to clamp down. I did my own private survey some weeks ago, and agree with your percentages as to trash vs. valid, constructive posts.

A suggestion to Matt: limit the download speed of all posts to dialup speed and IMO posters would self control their own trash.
(oops, I meant "there" own trash, or is that they're ? lol)

As a popular TV host states, I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to make money. If I want to socialize, I'll request an email or move to another board. PM? $90 will buy a lot of penny shares...
