I know that TD Ameritrade has an upper limit on the price I can ask. $2 is ok. $5 is rejected. Maybe the same for you?

I also use E*TRADE and if it fails at $5 just re-enter and it should take.

Sometimes they dont let you go above $2 dollars per share on otc stocks

I put in $5 limit orders with TD Ameritrade with no problem.

I don't know why it won't take. My sell order was over a million.

Do you have more than one account? I have had orders rejected and couldn't figure out why until I realized it had switched accounts on me when I switched to the trade window. I put in the sell order without realizing I was in an account that didn't have that stock.
