A map showing aquifer thickness of the Ogallala Aquifer with the proposed Keystone XL pipeline route laid over. Since 2010, there were concerns that a pipeline spill could threaten the Ogallala Aquifer, one of the world's largest fresh water reserves.[101][125] The Ogallala Aquifer spans eight states, provides drinking water for two million people, and supports $20 billion in agriculture.[126] Critics say that a major leak could ruin drinking water and devastate the mid-western U.S. economy.[102][127]
Can't Canada build a refinery in Vancouver then run a pipeline to there and the problem will be solved.
BTW Enbridge (we inherited it) has a similar problem.
