Negotiating with oneself is prima facie an ethics issue unless proven otherwise which is why local governments, for example have eliminated the practice. As Jerry said, Ms. Powers put the company in dire straits, rescued the company and then rewarded herself handsomely for the privilege.

We are not just talking about the loans but Cognate as well which was partly built with NWBO shareholder money.

There are serious conflicts of interest and maybe there are good explanations but since NWBO is not run transparently there and there has been no CFO most of the time, there are no real checks and balances and there is no way to verify if the conflicts of interest are being managed properly, though again the gold standard solution is not to have someone with a fiduciary duty to others negotiate with themselves to provide services to the people they owe the duty to.
