You may be right as your point of view seems to be aligned with previous viruses. Clearly, your point is valid, reasonable and may be the thing to do.

But...imho (what do I know) I think the most prudent thing to do with least risk to the country is to wear a mask, practice distancing and shut down for a limited amount of time to get these infected cases down while significantly increasing the number of vaccinations administered.
