some brokers (Etrade for example) have a "Realized gain/loss" choice, and a "Taxable gain/loss" choice. In which case you would choose "Taxable gain/loss"

Have you looked at your account recently? They have phased that out. Now I know they did it gradually so maybe you didn't get the new one yet, but they are no longer showing the choice. They just use the actual Taxable gain/loss now.

Since that amount is the actual amount you need to report on your taxes that is all they are giving now. I actually liked being able to see what the gain/losses were without the washsales being calculated.

I wasn't aware that TDA only gives you realized gains amounts. They don't calculate the wash sales? What about on the 1099? Do they list the wash sale amount? Don't they have to do that now?

After contacting TD Ameritrade via email, they corrected the discrepancy with my gain/loss that Gainskeeper was showing for one particular stock.

So they can change the Gainskeeper information if anyone sees an issue.

You many want to double check all your sales/proceeds. Gainskeeper can make mistakes.

Unfortunately, in my case, Gainskeeper got confused. and it's showing I have a several thousand dollar gain in a stock instead of a loss.
