OT: It's a completely different tactical situation. In the straits of Hormuz you're talking about a series of mostly uninhabited islands that the Iranians have placed missle batteries and artillery on. On the mainland portion of the straits the Iranians have established fortifications. Forcing the strait would not require an Iraqi style occupation, but could be achieved by the destruction of these Iranian assets with naval power.
The Iranians have been nice enough to build us an air base just for our taking... The Abu Musa islands will make a nice vacation spot for our troops one day.
