I wonder if very long time shareholders could also be awarded options?

Most of these are cashless exercises, meaning the holder just gets the difference between the option cost,
or grant price, and the market value. They then could simultaneously sell the shares so they don’t actually convert the option to equity and hold it, it goes from option to cash.
