I can't believe you would write something that silly.

you are actually trying to compare energy output from lighting a pile of soybeans on fire vs converting them to a fuel and burning the fuel using a controlled process?

Yep. The USDA pretty much called their bluff on the chemistry, offering money and commercialization in exchange for an in/out explanation that made sense chemically. They're making snake oil, if anything.
