Mom and her sister, also in assisted living for the past month for a fractured hip, are a lot more like their imperious grandmother than they'd like to admit to.
Mom has another 8 days of quarantine in her apartment before she can join the other 153 residents of Byron Park for activities. She'll be happier then as she has friends living there.
Thank God she chose the place herself a couple of years ago. Terrific food with a sort of Las Vegas style menu and presentation.
Her most recent request was her exercise bike so she doesn't lose her 89 year old girlish figure. But once she's on the loose in a week they have a full gym with trainers and a lap pool.
In time she hopes to move up to one of the independent living floors where she "can see the pool shimmer in the sunlight". A view apparently very important to a lifelong swimmer.
I swim but I don't need to look at a pool all day. Maybe that will change in time.
