Going public isn’t about the CEO enriching himself, it’s about getting access to the public markets to sell stock, raise capital for the enterprise to invest in growth, etc., as well as some owners of the private business cashing some equity. You go public to sell stock, not to hand over the equity ownership of a business over to a bunch of stinky pink bagholders of stock that was sold to the public long ago.
