Jim: I lost $180,000 on GTE. Do you see me running to some lawyer and crying, "Boo hoo hoo, I lost money on GTE." Playing the stock market, like getting to my ripe old age is not for the faint hearted.
The only thing I knew or even cared about was the original Strat. I was furnished money and help to pursue the project. I could have cared less about the day to day operations of GTE. That was Huff's problem - I had enough of my own. Hindsight is always 20/20 and I say that Huff was doing a superlative job as CEO.
I think Harry S. Truman said it best with, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." Huff took the heat but was forced out of the kitchen in my opinion.
