In 1986 he discovered magainins, a family of antimicrobial peptides in the skin of the African clawed frog.
Magainins is the basis that Dr. DeGrado used to develop Brilacidin with the team at the U of Penn. (pretty sure of this but not positive)so in effect Brilacidin owes its development based on the findings of Dr. Zasloff.
One would think he has a pretty good idea of the strengths and weaknesses of Brilacidin.
