The stopping criterion was undetectable pgRNA in the blood, based on a proprietary, sensitive assay. However, undetectable pgRNA in the blood does not imply that viral replication in hepatocytes has ceased. ASMB uses a blood assay because liver biopsies are unduly invasive.
