Whatever bio marker amd stopping criteria ASMB used clearly failed. Using HGSAg is going to handcuff trials bc it is so hard to bring down but regulators may be stricter moving forward. There have been cases of rapid liver failure when stopping antivirals (this would be very rare in suppressed patients with heightened monitoring in a trial setting but nevertheless catastrophic). PS I heard of just such a case in a patient after switching HIV regimens (obviously going off tenofovir). The ID doctor goofed massively and wasn’t mindful of the patients hep B status but still this happened extremely fast
