Yessir.... they have more tools in the toolbox than we do. Even with Level 2, we are kidding ourselves... They can trade to the fifth decimal and just as you say, make $$ on spreads.

Especially easy to notice on a rather “dormant” stock, I can place an order and you might see an added 200-2000 shares on your (Level2) market depth.... HMM? ... pull the order, and so does the MM. In my experience, I see this.... They notice interest, add a few shares, just a tiny amount sometimes, scoop some when your order is filled, and sell them a few ticks up if some volume comes in, or if the spread is thick and they can slide a “hidden” order in there...

Anyway... bla bla bla... lol!

Lots and lots of info on MMs and their function but yeah they make cash in small increments while Making a Market !!!

One MM I know mentioned that a favorite practice of MMs is to quietly accumulate shares during a sideways market (congestion) so they can go unnoticed. After they have stocked inventory, then try and create a 'trend' (up or down). For up.... they rapidly buy shares (candle spikes with LOW volume) with the intent to lure in trend followers. Once the trend is established by the FOMO crowd, they then start selling (dumping) as other trend followers jump on the FOMO band wagon. There are techniques to identify these MMs tricks, but they are not fool proof. MM's most likely have played with RLFTF too.

Thanks for all the input.

I'm thinking we hear EUA after Oct 16th meeting. Hope so. This is worse than hoping for a pony at Christmas. Spoiler alert - never got the pony. :(

Maybe get lucky here and can buy my kids a pony! :)

While much of what you said is true, market makers can and often do unscrupulous things for self benefit.
