It is "active" because this was the last state reported by the company. /meaning nobody set it to "inactive"). But you see the state "Lapsed" on the top left, dated Dec 20, 2018!?! It should have been updated at this date at the latest. This did not happen! This makes perfectly sense, because in 2018 it was still WMIH. The WMIH BOD (or whoever) seems to have it updated regularly. Then WMIH was renamed to COOP (same company, but BOD changed), and nobody at COOP seems to have it updated it again, so the overall state is "Lapsed"!

WMIH CORP "status" is "ACTIVE"

How does the DTCC define an "ACTIVE" status? to quote DTCC (from the link above) when you click the "?" at "Entity Information" for WMIH CORP.

"Entity Status:

Entity Status indicates whether the entity itself is active or inactive.
ACTIVE is assigned to an entity that has independent legal status. Active entities include solvent companies in normal operation, as well as those entities which are in administration, in receivership, or bankrupt, but which still have legal status.
INACTIVE is assigned for entities that no longer have independent legal status as a result of dissolution."

Not Mr Cooper. If WMIH CORP's LEI became MR COOPER's, than per governing authority DTCC, the existing LEI number has to say MR COOPER....but it doesnt ! They've had years to update the name status to MR COOPER if that was true, but its not. Many filings since the name change haven't changed the name with the DTCC per regulation.

I am an investor in Mr Cooper Group Inc stock (COOP), formerly WMIH Corp, that currently trades on the Nasdaq Market and while recently doing some "Due Diligence" on the company I came across some information that is a bit confusing.

On the GMEI Utility website the LEI 549300KD8C6DPXYC2M26 and all other Registration details assigned to WMIH Corp, whose Status was "ACTIVE" and Validation being "FULLY CORROBORATED", as of July 21, 2020.

How could the LEI Registration Details still report those of WMIH Corp when the company's name was officially changed to the Mr Cooper Group Inc on October 10, 2018 and as such essentially no longer exists???

Shouldn't a company's LEI Details be reported under the company's current name instead of it's previously changed name???

Not sure of the reason for this discrepancy and why it has not been corrected since these details have been consistently, Updated and Corroborated, since October 10, 2018, to as recently as July 21, 2020.

Is it that the former, WMIH Corp still exists as a separate entity from the current Mr Cooper Group Inc, or is it simply that updating the company name with the DTCC is merely a formality that will not have any negative legal or functionary effects???

Any clarification on this situation you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
