I suspect Chase's image of the fur hat woman looks nearly normal in Manhattan, but the image is a little out of place and from the 1950s for most of America.

I've had two Chase cards for decades. Southwest and Marriott. Never a problem and about five years ago a vendor sent me an expensive car lift that proved to be inappropriate for my garage even though I'd had long conversations with their sales and tech folks to make sure it would function as I required. The vendor told me it was an issue between me and the installer.

I called Chase support to stop payment, sent them details, the vendor rebutted and Chase stopped the payment. The vendor was all apologies after that. It's good to have a big dog on your side. Chase may be many things but incompetent is not one of them.

To Elroy's point, one of the things I do know about Chase from consulting with them for several years is that they hate to lease software from another company because they always think their guys are the smartest in the world and no one could create a better product. I know of two occasions where they tossed tens of millions down a rat hole before using a competing product.

Chase will never win a likeability contest but it's a solid company.
