I doubt he, or his advisors, are foolish enough to unveil technology in a public forum if they thought there were others that could beat them to this final product first. Of course other tech is watching and a few are probably saying "we can beat Telsa's timeline". Go for it, they will burn through a lot of cash trying and maybe get something out. But maybe not.
