Exactly, they are not one hit wonders. They can drop some of their tertiary revenue earners into a new market and whammo, new revenue is discovered. It can even be drugs that soon might have patents expiring and so might be low risk, and give them a really nice hit. They have options. They can manage the situation and it’s not potentially all that damaging for them if someone copies. And, most importantly, they are worldwide brands. If a drug is known to be from Merck, and then some no name company from China pops up selling a drug not all that high tech, it’s no big deal. But if suddenly Huawei sets up a side venture and claims to have cured cancer with stolen technology, then you have a whole other kind of a challenge for an unknown company to battle.
