Wait for your blood work. I believe the important thing is do what the label says ie achieve your lowest LDL feasible at the maximum tolerated statin dose (bearing in mind there are always underreported muscle and liver issues that accompany ALL statin use). The statin doesnt matter. Then, if you have evidence of ASCVD OR are diabetic and have 2 CV risk factors (and who doesn't?) add the Vascepa.
In point of fact, the ESC data will IMO show beneficial plaque effects of Vascepa independent of any lipid or inflammatory biomarker. So what should a person do? Exercise, eat for CV wellness if not for the soul, drink less than your doctor spills, lower LDL as far as possible below 70mg/dl IHMO, and medically and thorugh lifestyle changes, control diabetes and any dysmetabolic tendencies. Treat any accompanying systemic inflammatory conditions, and swallow 2 capsules of Vacepa with a somewhat fatty meal twice daily and pray. Rinse and repeat.

Rosem., I switched from Lipitor to Crestor years ago. At the time, my brother mentioned something about Crestor having some kind of dual MOA advantage over Lipitor. Sorry that I can't elaborate. My blood showed better numbers with 10mgs of Crestor than I had with 40 mgs of Lipitor. A while back I went to fill my script at a pharmacy not too far from Bro's office. The Pharmacist recognized my last name, and said my brother sends patients to that pharmacy. Now being on more familiar terms, I mentioned that Bro switched me from Lipitor to Crestor. The Pharmacist with added enthusiasm, explained he learned about Crestor's MOA during his recent classes.

Come to think of it, I asked my Brother if he's still taking a statin and Vascepa himself? He had reluctantly started a statin and Vascepa far later than my statin use, and additoin of Vascepa in 2013. He's 62 and I'm turning 57. He said that he stopped taking statin altogether, and that he missed a day or two of Vascepa but will reload. When I asked why he stopped the Statin? He said frankly, his Cholesteral is so low to begin with, he's afraid the statin is just overkill. He's always been of the opinion to keep the numbers way way down, but I guess he's already there. Jeez, he took after Mom, and I'm obviously took after dad.
