The Program for the Development of the Tehuantepec Isthmus (PDIT for its Spanish acronym) seeks to address the economic and social gap in the region to restore the wellbeing of the population located in the Tehuantepec Isthmus, composed of 79 municipalities: 46 in the State of Oaxaca and 33 in the State of Veracruz.
Five strategic objectives for the region of the Isthmus have been defined:
1. Strengthen social and productive infrastructure. 2. Promote a new model for economic growth that benefits the population. 3. Ensure the coordination of emergency for population in extreme poverty. 4. Preserve the biodiversity, the water, the soil and the air through a sustainable vision. 5. Strengthen regional culture and identity of the native population.
The Tehuantepec Isthmus Interoceanic Corridor (CIIT for its Spanish acronym) will be the backbone of the PDIT, which will connect the region nationally and internationally, in a first stage with investments in the following sectors:
1. Railways: Modernization of the Tehuantepec Isthmus railway to straighten curves and reduce slopes in different sections of the railway in order to increase travel speed, from 40 to 60-80 km/hr. 2. Ports: Includes the expansion of Coatzacoalcos and Salina Cruz ports, the construction of a container terminal in each port; the modernization of the oil port and the construction of a new industrial port, both located in Salina Cruz. **MIRAGE/NORTHERN** 3. Roads: Modernization of MEX-185 highway in different sections; construction of a highway along the CIIT and modernization of feeders and rural roads. 4. Gas Pipeline: Maintenance and modernization of a 220 km pipeline to transport natural gas and supply the industry and communities of the region. **MIRAGE/NORTHERN** 5. Refineries: Maintenance and rehabilitation of Minatitlan and Salina Cruz refineries, in order to increase the production of oil products for national consumption and export. MIRAGE??? 6. Electric power: Development of wind farms for power generation in the region of Ixtepec, Oaxaca, including the construction of 5 electrical substations in order to ensure power supply in the National Interconnected System from the Isthmus region to Central Mexico. 7. Telecommunications: Underground installation of fiber optical along a railway right of way to provide communication services to the industries that will settle in the region and for the Isthmus communities.
This is Mirage. It’s a 42” line to support the existing 12”. This pipeline is shown on the map in Mirage’s PR from 3/18/2020. Mirage revealed the size of it even before Mexico did!
Also, this is what the El Economista article earlier this week was confirming.. The “ “Gasoducto Interoceánico” is to be built by Mirage Energy.
That’s big business! How else does AMLO plan to create an LNG facility in the Port of Salina Cruz to ship to Asia? With the current gas supply and only an existing 12 inch line stretching the isthmus, it is impossible...
