#298053 RE: Doktornolittle #298050

Obviously I know how much $2T is and it’s too bad we did not and still have not done what countries that stopped the epidemic have done. They have not had to spend what we have spent. Europe is not experiencing our costs for a few reasons: 1) they already have a substantial system that addresses people’s needs in place; and 2) they followed the science, not people who pretend to be scientists on the internet.

The reason that this may destroy us is not because of the scientists, but because of the constant disinformation and resistance to science. These things have intentionally created an unruly society that is more like the country in the movie The Purge, than the United States of America at its best. But that’s their intent and many Americans are apparently ripe for it. Same thing can and may yet occur in other countries. Our enemies love to see us make fools of ourselves.

When this is through, it is very possible the US Dollar will no longer be the world’s preferred currency. People want their reserve currency to be from a stable country. When that happens, American life and the standard of living will change forever. That will be driven by how normal or insane we are as a country over the next year and months. We may recover, but there is no guarantee.

And, by the way, if we let this epidemic turn into a housing crisis and permanent mass unemployment by not effectively addressing those issues that stalling our proper response has caused, then we’re also toast. So $2T if it forestalls that, will probably be better than the alternative.
