The House this week will consider a Democratic amendment to must-pass legislation that would hamstring the Trump administration’s plans for a hotly-contested proposed mine in Alaska.

The measure (H.R. 7617) would ban the Army Corps of Engineers from using fiscal 2021 funds to issue a record of decision for the proposed Pebble Mine project in Alaska. A record of decision is the final step in the permitting process that either green-lights a project, quashes it, or approves it with certain conditions.
