Back/neck problems in the elderly are almost always caused by desiccation of the disks in between the vertabrae - they dry out and shrink, causing pain and curvature of the spine - the familiar little old lady posture of a hunched back (kyphosis). That happens to me too sometimes, when I've been working on something in my shop leaning over the workbench for an hour or more, sometimes get a twist too if I'm sitting on a stool twisting and reaching at the same time - very not good for your back unless you stretch regularly and are pretty limber - not too many 55+ yr olds can meet that description. Chiro makes regular adjustments to straighten things out, as does one of my PTs, but the best at it was my acupuncturist and she hasn't been able to see clients since the virus crisis started - my body definitely misses her magic touch - she does cranio-sacral therapy too, spends way more time on PT type stuff than she does with needles.
